Withdrawal period for EGK
For insurance contracts, a withdrawal period of 14 days generally applies.
- For insurance contracts under the Swiss Insurance Contract Act (VVG) (e.g. supplementary insurance, home contents insurance, third-party liability insurance), you can usually withdraw your application or cancel the contract within 14 days (Art. 2a VVG).
- The period begins as soon as you have submitted the application or declared your acceptance. Withdrawal must be made in writing or in text form.
- Compulsory basic health insurance (under the KVG) follows its own rules – when switching providers, notice periods apply, not the right of withdrawal.
